W13: Applications of Open Standards, IoT, Crowdsourcing, and Intelligent Systems for Smart Cities Governance and Digital Twin Implementation

Workshop Overview

Geospatial technologies have become integral to smart city development, offering unprecedented opportunities for efficient decision-making, planning, and governance. This workshop aims to explore and advance the state-of-the-art in geospatial technologies, focusing on open standards, methods, algorithms, and systems related to the sensor web, Internet of Things (IoT), crowdsourcing, and intelligent systems. Beyond technological aspects, the workshop will delve into social and organizational issues, emphasizing the real-time utilization of data, citizen trust, and the broader implications for smart city governance and digital twin(s) development.

Workshop Theme

  • Implementation of OGC standards in digital twin and smart city infrastructure.
  • Integration of IoT devices for comprehensive urban monitoring.
  • Harnessing crowdsourced data for urban planning and decision-making.
  • AI-based decision support systems for urban planning and governance.
  • Integration of ubiquitous sensors, IoT devices, crowdsourcing, and intelligent systems for digital twin development
  • Merge of IoT with digital twin for real-time urban data synchronization and predictive modelling
  • Research on ethical use of and trust in data from ubiquitous sensors, IoT devices, crowdsourcing, and intelligent systems.
  • Efficient use of the data from sensors, IoT devices, crowdsourcing, and intelligent/participatory systems for supporting the implementation of urban related UNs’SDGs.
